Blackbird

If sitting in a garden listening
to a blackbird singing
were all that there was,

it would be enough!

I very much enjoyed all the quality imagery of the brief piece. I think that despite its brevity it says volumes about the speaker’s situation – or better there’s a lot for the reader to interpret! First, the speaker is in a state of contentedness with the simple pleasures observing nature around him. I wonder what brought him to this state – has it been a good day and he’s relishing life, has it been a bad day and he’s looking for solace? Is it the beginning of the day, does the blackbird provide a clue? Personally I see a person reconnecting with his passion for gardening, the blackbird singing represents all the feelings the activity brings him.
