It is not a lonely path he walks
For he wants no company save for
The Star that shines to show the way.
There is no companion that could succour him,
No comfort to be gained from a spoken word,
Only that which is his sole purpose now:
To turn away from all the World can give
To the path within that is a mirror image
Of the path without reflected darkly.
So he holds his star aloft, guided
By its light on the way; for now
His staff holds him firmly to the path
But soon he will no longer need it
Knowing that any way he goes
Will bring him safely to his journey’s end.
